Jabs are funny only when they are true...
... Unfortunately, Miss Juanita down at "The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc." didn't get the memo.
As a stab at the "soon-to-be" vacancy in Texas' Congressional District 22, she graces her homepage with the glaring headline (in green, no less):
"News from the ONLY Congressional District in America without a Congressman"
You see, anytime you use those tricky "absolutes" (like "ONLY"), you best better do your homework. Apparently, the dog ate Miss Juanita's "homework".
Not only does Texas' CD-22 still have the living, breathing Mr. Tom DeLay representing them in D.C. (much to Juanita's chagrin, I'm sure) -- after all, he hasn't stepped down yet -- but there are two current Congressional districts without representation.
One is New Jersey's 13th Congressional District.
The other is California's 50th Congressional District.
It took me less than a minute on Google to figure it out, but perhaps they don't have that down at the "Beauty Shop". So another attempt at a humorous attack comes up a little short on the facts. (Those darn, stubborn things...)
But, it would have been pretty funny if it was true! Nice try, Juanita!

Who is Juanita?
"Juanita" is the online persona of Susan DuQuesnay Bankston -- my favorite local misanthropic curmudgeon who isn't happy unless she is miserable. Click on the link in my original post to find her website.
She reminds me of that famous Reagan quote: "The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so."
but ump you have to admit she sure is entertaining (and I'm on your side of the aisle)...
but not a delay/wallace repub (a pro-voter Campbell one)...
Well, she has her moments... she can, at times, be a little factually challenged, and it is clear she's a very bitter woman, but I like when she gets it right and calls people out for it.
It's just when she gets in knee-jerk mode that she crosses over the line from entertaining to annoying.
I would say we are all guilty of that from time to time.
BTW--did any of you catch that smear ad being run by Smelley, running for the FBISD school board on FortBendNow.com? Does he really think he's fooling anyone by trying to get back on the board and redue all the damage? Just check out his backers (many from Houston -- not sure why he needs those backers in a local district race).
Ha, ha! From BALLOT ACCESS NEWS:
"On April 11, a special election to fill a vacancy in California's 50th U.S. House district was held. California uses a BLANKET PRIMARY FOR SPECIAL ELECTIONS, with a run-off for the top vote-getters from each party, if no one gets 50% in the first round. the ballot listed 14 Republicans, two Democrats, one Libertarian and one independent. The various Republicans polled 53.5%; the Democrats 45.1%; the independent polled .8%; the Libertarian .6%. There will be a run-off on June 6."
Thanks for the update... was there some point you were trying to make, or just sharing information?
